Greater Montréal is made up of five large entities: the urban agglomeration of Montréal, the City of Laval, the urban agglomeration of Longueuil, and the North and South Shores. In total, it encompasses 82 municipalities. Greater Montréal is teeming with industrial, technological and cultural activity. It is home to many metropolitan clusters, including four leading-edge clusters, more than 200 research centres, five universities and an impressive number of large corporations as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, in addition to many community groups and not-for-profit organizations that enhance the region’s vitality.
